According to the Renegade Writer, that purveyor of poultry platitudes Chicken Soup is seeking stories for their Ultimate Series. And they want pictures this time. The essays should be about:

The Ultimate Christmas by June 30

The Ultimate Teacher by July 31

The Ultimate Dad by August 31

The Ultimate Mom by September 30

That should keep you busy for the next few months.

How to Submit to an Anthology: Advice From An Editor

Laurel Snyder has a great split personality post over at About.com's Fiction Writing Channel on how to subit to an anthology, interspersed with advice on editing one. She is the editor of Half/Life: Jew-ish Tales from Interfaith Homes.

My favorite piece of advice: Submit to an anthology that attracts a different demographic than your own. So if you're a guy, look for an anthology on love stories or postpartum depression. They're looking for a variety of different perspectives, and your story will stand out.

Poets and Writers Magazine Classifieds For Jan 2008

Check out Poets and Writers Magazine's Classifieds for anthology opportunities. Among other things, they want writing from:

• People 50 and older
• women with diabetes
• indivduals with stories about their personal reaction to climate change
• "military brats" who write poetry
• Female poets over 60
• anyone who has something they wouldn't tell their mother (seriously, that's about everyone)
